If you have a 100% service connected disablility status from the Veterans Administration, the State of Michigan has a program that your next license plate, only one plate per veteran, is $5.00 for that vehicle.

Even better news is, that plates actual cost is $5.00 for 5 years, or $1.00 per year. Contact any Michigan Secretary of State's office for the form to fill out. Before going to their office, call 1-800-827-1000 (VA regional office) and tell them you need a letter stating you are a 100% service connected veteran. Take the letter with you, fill out the form, pay your $5.00 and walk out with a smile on your face!!! In my case, my plate used to be about $150.00 a year: times 5 years, I paid about $750.00 before..... I just saved $745.00 by doing this.

The State of MI does manage to keep this quiet, so the personell at the Secretary of State Offices may not know how to process it without pulling a manual and figuring it out.
